2025–2026 Trail Planting Project with ReLeaf Grant Funds

In 2025, KCGB partnered with the City of Calhoun to secure a grant to plant 34 trees along the recreation department’s walking trails. Planting was completed in 2026.

The planting area begins across from the maintenance building and continues along the walking path to the right of the pond.

Trees planted include:

  • 10 Sycamore (Platanus occidentalis)

  • 10 Smooth Alder (Alnus serrulata)

  • 3 Bald Cypress

  • 10 Loblolly Pine

2022 Tree Plantings

In 2022, KCGB provided 28 trees for planting within the Recreation Department:

  • 4 Trident Maple (Acer buergerianum)

  • 16 Nuttall Oak (Quercus nuttallii)

  • 4 Shumard Oak (Quercus shumardii)

4 White Swamp Oak (Quercus bicolor)

  • Bald Cypress

  • Trident Maple

  • Nuttall Oak
