Any computer related electronics (EXCEPT the old tube-style CRT monitors and LCD flat screen TVs ,) includes computers, laptops, printers, external devices, routers, modems, etc...

Household electronics including cell phones, CD players, DVD players, clock radios, audio-video electronics.

We will not accept: TVs with tubes, older CRTs with tubes, LCD flat screen TVs, or microwave ovens with glass fronts.

HAZARDOUS WASTES:

Accepting:

Herbicides: weed killer such as Roundup, Ortho, Miracle Grow, Remuda, etc.

Pesticides: pest controls such as Raid, Seven Dust, Ortho 3-in-1, etc., including those in aerosol cans.

Paints considered Haz*: lacquer, enamel paints including marine type paints and epoxy, tank/pipe coating, roof tar, anything that says catalyst, PART A or PART B, 55-gallon drums, lead paint, paint with mercury, leaking containers, cleaners, or chemicals, paint thinners or paint removers.  

Light bulbs such as florescent bulbs, incandescent and LED

TIRES

Accepting:

Car, sport utility, and pick up truck tires only (behind the BRIDGE). Limit 10 tires per customer. NO Commercial Dealers! And read the items we will not take below.

We will not accept: Tires from commercial dealers or businesses, Tractor trailer tires, agricultural or farm tires, Tires over 20” , or Tires with rims

The 5th Annual Keep Calhoun Gordon Beautiful Golf Tournament, at Fields Ferry Golf Course raises awareness and and money to promote education and action for beautification projects, litter prevention, waste reduction, and recycling. Keep Calhoun Gordon Beautiful is a nonprofit and local affiliate of Keep America Beautiful.

  • 12 Noon - Check in and lunch provided.

  • 1 PM - Shotgun start

  • 4:30 PM or so - Awards

Spring Recycling Event 2023

Recycling takes place at Rock Bridge Community Church at 906 Curtis Parkway in Calhoun from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers are always needed to work this day.

Gordon County residents can get rid of unwanted tires, electronics (no TVs or those big ancient computer monitors), tennis shoes, and much more, for free, at our spring recycling event. We will also shred documents. And there will be a place to donate blood. This is our semi-annual, community-wide event to properly recycle and dispose of unused or unwanted household products. Items being accepted include:

Soft plastics and films

Hard plastics with or without numbers

Plastic flower pots

Computer towers

Batteries and tools containing batteries (please tape battery terminals)

Electronics (no big, huge TVs or ancient computer monitors - sorry!)

New or used tennis shoes

Paper shredding (Limit 5 boxes per household. This offer isn’t for businesses.)

Eye glasses

Tires (Limit 5 per household. This offer isn’t for businesses.)

Canned and non-perishable food items

Donations will be accepted and are accepted via our secure website right now.

For the first time, we will be accepting household hazardous material. Please see details below for all items we are accepting, and some that we are not accepting, at our Fall event:

Food Drive

Please bring non-parishable food for the food insecure in our community.

Blood Drive

Blood Assurance will be on-site to help make your donation experience as pleasant as possible!. Donating blood is a safe, simple and rewarding experience that usually takes less than an hour! Donating is easy, and it makes a huge difference in the lives of others.

Please get a good nights sleep on Friday, eat a good meal within 4 hours of your donation, and drink plenty of fluids (juice and water) on Saturday.

Spring 2022 Clean Up/Litter Pick Up

Keep Calhoun-Gordon Beautiful will host another spring cleanup and recycling day around the community Saturday morning, April 2. Volunteers are asked to meet at the Depot in downtown Calhoun ( 109 S. Arbor Day

It’s that time of year again; a time to start planning for spring , and planting for our future.

We are happy to offer many varieties of tree seedlings this year in celebration of GA Arbor Day, and we hope you will make plans to visit us at the CALHOUN RECREATION DEPARTMENT on

FEBRUARY 19, from 9:00-12:00, to select those trees that are just right for your property.

Here are some of the varieties we will have available this year:

  • Bald Cyprus

  • Northern Red Oak

  • White Dogwood

  • VA Pine

  • River Burch

  • American Elm

  • Sweet Gum

  • Washington Hawthorn

  • Box Elder Maple

  • Shumard and Willow Oak

We have a limited supply of some varieties, so if there is a specific tree you are interested in, plan to

arrive at 9:00 a.m.
